our story

A message from the founders:

“A parent once approached me (Maulana Shoeb Nakhuda) in relation to his child being taught the Qur’an. My natural response was, “why not enrol him into one of the local evening madrassahs?”. The parent then informed me that due to his child’s visual impairment, local madrassahs currently lack the facilities to cater for him.

When Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Motala RH (d.2019) – founder of Darul Uloom Al Arabiya Al Islamiya, Bury – was told of the intention to purchase a site for the purpose of providing Islamic education for the visually impaired, his words were: “You are fulfilling a fardh al-kifāyah (communal obligation) on behalf of the Ummah.”

Hazrat’s words resonate with us deeply. We at Al Qalam Vision Institute ask for your du’ās in fulfilling this obligation on behalf of the Ummah, and humbly request donations.”

Our services

1) Educational Programmes 📖🔎

We provide tailored learning opportunities for Visually Impaired students, offering classes in:

– Arabic language reading, writing and speaking ✍

– Quran memorisation 📜

– General Islamic studies 📚

Students access these lessons through various platforms, including:

– Braille & audio resources 📝🎧

– Low Vision Aids, such as digital magnifiers 🔍

– Technology, including specialised software, mobile apps, and AI-powered tools 📱🤖

Our students, ranging from ages 6 to 50, come from diverse backgrounds across the UK.

We offer both ONSITE & ONLINE learning to ensure accessibility for all. 💻

2) Social Events 🗣🤝

We successfully hosted our first-ever social gathering for the Visually Impaired community, bringing together over 70 attendees for a unique and enriching experience. This event provided an opportunity for Visually Impaired individuals to connect, network, and strengthen bonds within the community.

3) Outreach Visits ❤‍🩹🏠

As part of our outreach efforts, an Al-Qalam Vision Institute team visited a Visually Impaired individual living alone in East Lancashire to provide both emotional and spiritual support. We offered companionship, delivered hot meals 🍲, and helped enhance his overall wellbeing. He found this service incredibly valuable. ❤
